Foreword: Luxury Law (Third Edition)

Has there ever been a better or harder time to be an IP lawyer in the luxury goods business? Whilst the NFT gold rush may have eased a little, we remain challenged by this new virtual world that our businesses and clients occupy. Today, we shift focus to the opportunities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence. More than ever, we need signposts, maps and good guides to help us navigate through these new, uncharted lands. This book is one such guide and support. The law feels stretched to its very limits trying to squeeze Old World concepts of ownership, authorship and control into a more fluid world of AI-enhanced or enabled products and services.

As always with any seismic change in our human and business operating model, there will appear snake oil salespeople, false prophets and indeed doomsayers. Our role is to watch and listen, take wise counsel, and give our businesses the confidence and support they demand of us. This book gives us some solid ground upon which to view the new horizon.
